I’ve not unpacked my gym bag yet. It is waiting at the side of room to be picked up and used, frustrated in its current role as a placeholder for my exercise kit.
All exercise starts and ends in my home now and my gym bag is unneeded. It is currently clutter, rather than a reminder to be picked up, thrown in the car, and taken to work or to the park or to a friends.
But I’m not unpacking the bag just yet even though the social distancing is likely to last a while longer. It’s a reminder that ‘this too shall pass’. And although I need (and do) create new routines for my sanity, some things need to stay the same. My gym bag is staying exactly where it is right now. Not all things need to change.
